Look Alive, international Killjoys!

projetodoitloud:

Our Killjoy mosaic seems to have pleased international Killjoys, so we are expanding and we want to know if you would like to be part of it! It would be a World Contamination Mosaic. So if you want to participate, send your pic with a gun (you can use your hands if you don’t have a raygun nor toygun) aiming for the “photo” beside, above, below or any direction to doitnow.br@gmail.com with “world contamination mosaic” in the subject until 08/20. Please, tell us your country.

We hope you like! Any questions: @ProjetoDoItLoud/ doitnow.br@mail.com / DoItLoud Formspring

Blasta Zine: Issue 2

So…I am ridiculously late in reporting this, but issue two of Blasta! has been out for a couple weeks now. You should probably look into that, though not just because yours truly fills some space in it with words (which I will perhaps post later on).

Want Some Custom Killjoy Boots?

poisonandfire:

Some of you are probably getting fed up with my being broke; as, I currently have An Auction of Signed stuff and a deviantArt print going that I’ve been talking about here.

Desperate times call for desperate measures, however. Or — moreso — creative ones, in the case of this next thing I want to propose.

In December, I posted a picture of my boots that I painted Killjoys-style, and a lot of you went batty over them and even offered to buy the original pair:

However, I’m way too attached to those to part with them ; so, I doubt I would sell them (unless I were offered $mad chedda$), but what I can offer is this:

If you have a pair of boots and an idea of a way to spruce them up Killjoy-style, I would be willing to execute your idea with my lousy paintbrushes and trembling hands (HEY! You said you liked it! and Gerard Way himself called them “fucking awesome.”) for a fee.

What I would ask from you:
-Your pair of boots shipped to me
-$50-$100 (negotiable), depending on how big the boots are and how much detail you want
-Help with the shipping cost to get them back to you because they’ll probably be heavy. Haha!

Is anyone out there interested?

*Note: I am a full-time student, and can probably offer this only for a short amount of time while the quarter is not busy.

This might be relevant to some interests.

MCRmy Texas Forums

mcrmysouthtx:

Best of news, guys and girls! Soldier Mikeala out of Dallas has started up a forum focused on MCRmy activities happening all over Texas, which is great since the threads on the official forums can sometimes get buried under all the other information being traded back and forth. Head on over, sign up, spread the word, and get to interacting!

Killing several Dracs with one blast here:

  1. If you live in Texas and are looking for other Texas-based Killjoys, there’s a forum starting up (in addition to the threads on the official forums).
  2. If you live the South Texas area like I do, there’s a Tumblr that might be relevant to your interests.
  3. This is semi-related, but if you’re going to be at Mizuumi Con tomorrow, so will I. And I was told that blasters will be allowed, but edged weapons (real knives and swords) will not. So if you’re cosplaying the BLI Woman from “SING”, you’re gonna have to leave that shiny sword at home.

Hey, LJ folks—

inkanddestroy:

I have a bid up at help_japan!  Bidding starts at $10 for some sweet, sweet art.

The lovely Kellie (whose work can be seen here) also has a bid up there!

I meant to do a proper blog post when I first heard about this LiveJournal artist auction, but look, there’s even more incentive for you guys to go check it out! What’s not to love about this? Seriously. Go, go, go! You have until March 26th, I believe, for the whole shebang.

"Zero Percent" Bracelet Auction for Charity.

For those who saw yesterday’s post on the “Zero Percent” bracelet and what I intended to do with it, the charity auction is now live! Click the link, reblog this post, spread the word. If you’re on Twitter, you can use http://bit.ly/zeroauction instead of that Big McLargeHuge thing of an auction page URL.

For those who don’t regularly follow the blog, here are the basics:

  • 100% of the proceeds from the auction will go to AmeriCares Foundation, Inc. I picked them because my research pulled up that 98% of the money they take in goes towards their various relief programs. Perhaps for the next one, I’ll pick another (like Global Giving or Hands on Tokyo, each of which I’ve just been made aware).
  • You have until March 20th to make a bid. Please make sure you’re serious about it, too. Don’t flake. That’s not cool.
  • The bracelet is handmade; I knocked it out over the course of a day, more or less, on a bead loom.
  • From clasp to clasp, the bracelet measures eight inches.
  • For Non-MCR Persons: The phrase is the title of a B-Side from Danger Days: The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys. It also comes from this tweet. Trust me. The person in your life who is a fan (and a fan of the current era) will more than likely recognize the reference. Get it as a gift and give the gift of charity in one sweep!
  • I have the auction set so that shipping price is relative to where you live. I know that means in some places it might be astronomical, but I wanted this to be as streamlined as possible. The point is, I’ll ship pretty much anywhere.
  • Yes, I am planning to make at least two more bracelets in different colors/with different wording.
  • You can read about the process here—oh, and if you want to know what it looks like before you click the auction link:

March 12, 2011

I’ve been sitting here trying to figure out how best to say this, and it might just be that I’m tired, but I can’t think of anything eloquent enough. However, I feel like if I wait for eloquence to catch up, I’ll lose my nerve and then I’ll feel like I’ve missed a chance to do as I’ve been saying in terms of helping.

Alright. So. You see that bracelet up there? It’s pretty, right? (Least, I should hope you think it’s pretty.) Tomorrow, I’m putting this bracelet up for auction through eBay’s Giving Works program, with the starting bid at $10.

Why am I telling you this? Because I have a goal.

That goal? To donate 100% of the earnings from said auction to AmeriCares in the hope that some (or all) of that money goes towards doing my little part to help relief efforts not just in Japan, but in all the places affected by the recent earthquake and tsunami. (And yes, I’m already aware of the slight awkwardness inherent in auctioning a bracelet that says “Zero Percent” for charity. But I didn’t think about that while I was making it! I was thinking, “I’m gonna do my part to help people.” So, um, if you find your way here AmeriCares…good intentions! I have good intentions!) I’m also plotting to put other bracelets up on the auction block, but I’m not entirely sure what to put in terms of lettering. KILLJOY is definitely one I have patterned out already. DESTROYA and SAVE YOURSELF, I’ll save for selling on Etsy, since I don’t want to risk offending anybody who doesn’t understand the references (even though I’ll explain these are MCR/Killjoys themed). Maybe I can do the four logos? They don’t look that hard…

But baby steps. I’m gonna start with this bracelet and see how/where it goes. You can see better pictures of the bracelet here, and if you have any questions please leave them in the comments section.

I’m not gonna lie, I’m a little nervous about this. But my intentions are good and I’m hoping this all goes off without a hitch.

From Charity Navigator: "Japan Earthquake and Tsunami"

Much thanks to Miss Cassie for tweeting about this. Not only is it a tips list on how to donate without getting scammed, it also provides a list of organizations you can donate to in the sidebar. This is the list:

Take it and run with it, you guys. And if you really need more incentive than the kind fuzzy feeling of helping, remember that Girl Apocalypse is offering masks for those who show proof of donating to any organization focused on relief efforts for the quake/tsunami. I’m trying to figure out if there might be something I can do as well, maybe auction some Killjoys-themed bracelets? Would you guys be down for that? eBay apparently makes it possible to have the proceeds from earnings go directly to charity. I’m gonna look into it further.

I know none of this is directly related to Killjoys/Danger Days stuff, but sometimes you just have to know when to say “time out” and focus on what’s important, like lending a hand to those in need.
